My name is David Bowen, and I am the owner and operator of Pink Zebra Moving of Montgomery. After over 20 years in the restaurant industry, I started a career in the contact center of a major regional bank. I believe this uniquely places me in a position of understanding both customer experience and employee experience. I am happily married to my anchor, Lauren, and I have two wonderful children who are growing up faster than I can keep up with at times. As their father, I want to lead by example and show them that hard work does indeed pay off.
When I chose to open a Pink Zebra Moving business, I met with the founder and listened to his pitch. Afterwards, I believed in the vision and what he wants to accomplish within the local moving industry. It’s truly amazing, and I wanted to be a part of that legacy.
It Wasn’t Always Easy
More than 20 years ago, a frustrating experience with a cleaning company led me to start my own: Two Maids & A Mop, which grew from a humble startup (it took two years to turn a profit and nearly three to draw a paycheck) into a nationally recognized brand. Along the way, I learned that in an industry where most companies look and sound the same, the real opportunity lies in creating an experience customers actually remember.
Years later, I saw that same opportunity in the moving industry, one of life’s most stressful experiences, and set out to change it. That’s why we created Pink Zebra Moving with a simple mission: We Make Moving Fun. As the World’s First Happy Moving Company, we’re transforming what customers expect from their movers, proving that moving can be positive, memorable, and even fun, and that putting the customer experience first can change the reputation of an entire industry.
They’re going to write a book about us one day.
As a business owner, I have many goals. However, the one that sticks out the most for me is creating a business that will become something my wife, Lauren, and I can pass on to our children. I hope that seeing us out working hard for them every day will teach them the value of hard work and promote a great work ethic within them.
I did not know much about the moving industry before entering this endeavor, but I am always willing to learn and educate myself. I love working with my hands, and although I will not be moving with the team daily, I will enjoy getting out in the field and showing them that I am willing to help.
